KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- The U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan says more than 24 militants have been killed in two separate battles with coalition troops.

Officials say more than a dozen militants were killed after they attacked a coalition base in southern Afghanistan yesterday. Two Afghan guards also died during the attack.

Separately, about a dozen militants were reported killed during a raid by coalition troops in eastern Afghanistan, also yesterday.

More than 3,700 people -- mostly militants -- have died in insurgency-related violence in Afghanistan this year.
