KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- While many celebrate Labor Day with cookouts, family get-togethers and fun in the sun, there are many others, men and women, who are work the holiday to keep you safe.

Some local restaurants gave a nod to emergency workers this Labor Day, remembering them and thanking them for the work they do.

Firefighters and police work 24-7, 365 days a year.

They risk their lives everyday for us--holiday or no holiday.

To say thank you, the folks over at Olive Garden deliver lunch every labor day weekend to the men and women working at Fire Station 18 on Weisgarber.

More firefighters in Knoxville were thanked on Labor Day with a hearty lunch, as well.

Italian restaurant Bravo in Bearden served about 20 firefighters at two other stations-- Station number 12 on Old Kingston Pike, and KFD's headquarters downtown. The restaurant brought a taste of Bravo's chicken diavlo, salad and dessert.

For Bravo, it's a first time, but the restaurant managers say it's the start of an annual tradition for Labor Days to come.

What a wonderful thing to do. Thank you, both resturants. God bless all of our Police and Fire personel.
