KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knoxville Police say the man shot and killed by officers last week in the Walter P. Taylor Homes housing development had clothes matching those worn by the man who killed an S&S clerk during a botched robbery.
Police believe Michael Chesney is in fact the man who killed the clerk, and the discovery of "a distinctive hat," shirt and shoes point to him.
The results of ballistic testing being done on a weapon Chesney used to shoot a KPD officer will determine whether it was also the gun used in the S&S shooting.
Officer Brandon Stryker, wounded when Chesney opened fire from underneath a bed in a Walter P. Taylor apartment, is home, recovering from his wound.
