Attorney: Immigrants held illegally in Tenn. jails
A Nashville attorney says immigrants are being held illegally in Tennessee jails for days and even months after they have served their sentences.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Nashville attorney says immigrants are being held illegally in Tennessee jails for days and even months after they have served their sentences.
Federal regulations allow inmates to be held for 48 hours if U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement wants to take them into custody for possible immigration violations. But immigrant advocates are concerned that the rule is being consistently violated.
On Tuesday, a Warren County judge ordered the local jail to release Benigno Guzman-Ornelas.
Attorney Elliott Ozment said his client had been held for a week beyond the time he should have been let go.
Another client of Ozment's filed a federal lawsuit in Nashville last week saying he was held for more than four months in the Rutherford County jail after serving his sentence.
He is seeking class action status because he believes the problem is happening "with some regularity."

yeah lets just go ahead and give all the "illegal immigrants" full rights, and just go ahead and make them all legal.. It really bothers me that our own leadership and government will not enforce the laws, soon people will get away with murder around here!! I seriously believe if the Fed gov does not step up and grow some you know what, and enforce our laws, all the rednecks and legal residents will step up and take matters into their own hands!
