KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) One person is facing multiple charges after police say he was driving drunk when he caused a deadly car accident.

Knoxville Police say Gabriel Cordova de la Rosa, 20 slammed his Chevy Blazer into the rear bumper of a Kia, on Pellissippi Parkway at about 5:00 pm Saturday.

The impact pushed the Kia off the road, and it flipped several times.

The driver, Justin Smith, 32, died at UT Medical Center.

Police say de la Rosa left the scene, but a concerned citizen followed, and held him until police arrived.

According to court records, de la Rosa faces eight charges including vehicular homicide, drunken driving and failure to render aid.
