NASHVILLE, Tenn.(AP) -- Individuals who use software to breach security measures on the Internet and purchase tickets for profit would be fined as much as $5,000 under a proposal advancing in the Legislature.

The measure sponsored by Sen. Joe Haynes, a Goodlettsville Democrat, unanimously passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. The companion bill unanimously passed the House last week.

The measure comes after frustrated parents saw tickets to last year's Hannah Montana tour, featuring teen star Miley Cyrus, snapped up within minutes by scalpers who later sold them for prices that reached more than $2,500.
