WHITE HOUSE (AP) -- The Bush administration says Myanmar's military rulers have agreed to allow a single U.S. cargo aircraft to enter the country with relief supplies for cyclone victims.
White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe welcomed the go-ahead to land a military C-130 in the country on Monday. He says he hopes it's the beginning of a continuing flow of international aid into the country.
Earlier, U.S. disaster officials said skilled aid workers are being forced to sit on the sidelines as victims of last week's cyclone die. The U.N., U.S. and others are expressing growing frustration as they wait for permission from the military-led government to help.
Johndroe says the U.S. still has limited leeway, but that "one flight is much better than no flights." He adds that Myanmar will be needing help "for a long time."
