CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A Hamilton County school resource officer used a stun gun on a high school student who resisted arrest.

According to a statement from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, a Washington Alternative School student was at Red Bank High for academic testing Friday morning.

The student, who is not named because he is a juvenile, said he had a problem with another student and was going to find him.

When confronted by school resource officer Tim Mann, who is a sheriff's deputy, the student began cursing and became combative

Mann tried to handcuff the student, but he struggled and broke free. Mann then ordered him to get on the floor and stop resisting. Mann used a Taser on student after he refused to comply.

The student was taken to the hospital as a precaution. He was charged with criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, simple assault, and resisting arrest.
