TAZEWELL, Tenn. (WVLT) -- New admissions have been suspended at a Knoxville nursing home and one in Tazewell, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.
A one-time state civil penalty of $1,500 dollars has been imposed against Hillcrest-West Nursing Home in Knoxville, as well as a 4,750 federal civil penalty per day until various violations are corrected.
During a survey from April 28 through May 2, surveyors found violations of resident protection, administration, records and reporting and nursing services standards.
New admissions to Claiborne County Nursing Home have also been suspended.
Health Commissioner Susan R. Cooper also fined the facility $1,500, and suggested a federal $3,500 per day penalty until administration and resident protection violations are corrected.
The Health Department found the violations during an investigation into a complaint at the 100-bed nursing home.
