Knoxville (WVLT) - A Knoxville woman won a medical malpractice verdict of nearly $2.8 million Monday.

Doctors say Robin Farley has terminal breast cancer, and has a year to three years to live.

The News Sentinel reports Farley received a mammogram in 2001, and Dr. James Rouse of Oak Ridge Breast Center said the findings were normal.

Three years later, doctors found a large tumor and diagnosed Farley with stage four cancer.

Farley's attorney says she had a proper diagnosis been given in 2001, Farley would have had at least a 90-percent cure rate.

Defense attorneys say they will ask for a new trial.
