KNOXVILLE (WVLT) – Fire investigators are trying to track down the person responsible for setting a fire Saturday night in the West Knoxville Big Lots.
Fire crews were called to the scene on North Peters Road just before 6:30 PM.
According to investigators, the fire was small and contained to a few shelves of outdoor patio furniture that was still in boxes.
A quick-thinking customer grabbed a fire extinguisher and put it out before fire fighters arrived on scene.
Arson investigators believe the fire was set by someone who used a lighter from an in-store display.
The fire department is still trying to track down several potential witnesses whom security cameras place near where the fire started, in the middle of the store.
