ATHENS, Tenn. (AP) -- A store clerk who told police she dialed 911 with her nose after being bound with duct tape during an armed robbery is now charged with staging the heist.
The Daily Post-Athenian reports that Lacey Nicole Gossett was charged Wednesday with fabricating the robbery of the Athens Dollar General store.
Twenty-eight-year-old Gossett told police an armed robber appeared at the store Saturday morning when she was alone, bound her to a merchandise rack and left with $1,900 from the store's safe. Police say she urinated on herself to make it appear she feared for her life.
Athens Detective Fred Schultz says the elaborate details made police question whether the heist was an inside job.
A 17-year-old, whose identity hasn't been released, is also charged and police are searching for a third suspect.
