KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Tennessee State Senator Tim Burchett says he plans to run for Knox County Mayor in 2010, but says he's holding off on making a formal announcement.

Sen. Burchett says running for county mayor is something he's been interested in for a while.

Ihope he does run! I will vote for him! I have read alot of what he has had to say over the years and I think he is right about most of it! Maybe he can straighten out knox county and the schools around here too!

CAN MR. BURCHETT MAKE OUR SCHOOLS SAFE? I'LL VOTE FOR HIM IF HE CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE SAFETY POLICIES THAT INVOLVE OUR SCHOOLS. ALL THE SCHOOLS IN TN SHOULD BE A SAFE PLACE, NOT A WAR ZONE FOR AGGRAVATED INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN GET ACCESS TO FIREARMS AND SUCH.

I will certainly vote for Senator Burchett if he runs for mayor, but I would consider it quite a loss for the state as a whole. His work as a senator is outstanding and well appreciated.

I would be very happy to have Sen.Burchett as our mayor.He is so much better than Ragsdale.I only wish we could have an election sooner than 2010!The sooner we replace Ragsdale the better.
