Man arrested in theft of police weapons
Authorities in Sevierville have arrested a man in the theft of police weapons.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities in Sevierville have arrested a man in the theft of police weapons.
A statement from Sevier County Sheriff's Capt. Jeff McCarter was reported Thursday on The Knoxville News Sentinel's Internet site.
McCarter said 32-year-old William Johnson was charged with theft and auto burglary and that federal charges could be forthcoming because one of the guns is fully automatic.
In the theft last week, two rifles, a pistol and a shotgun were taken, along with body armor and muzzles for the weapons.
They were in the police vehicle assigned to a Pigeon Forge SWAT team member, parked at the officer's home while he was out of town overnight.
The weapons were recovered when Johnson was arrested Wednesday night.
