TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A West Tennessee woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for running over and killing a man with his pickup truck.

Melissa Louise Newsom, 39, of Tiptonville entered a "best-interest" plea to a charge of second-degree murder in the August 2007 death of Charles McElyea, 68, of Ridgely.

As part of a plea bargain, Newsom testified Tuesday that McElyea was not trying to sexually abuse her as she had claimed earlier. She described his death as accidental.

Because of the violent nature of the crime, Newsom must serve the entire sentence.
