CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A superseding federal indictment in Chattanooga charges 10 people, three of them in their 70s, with conspiring to distribute the painkillers oxycodone and hydrocodone.
Those charged live in Hamilton, Marion and Sequatchie counties.
The Sept. 5 indictment is linked to earlier drug charges against five other people in southeastern Tennessee.
A Nov. 4 trial has been set before U.S. District Judge Harry S. Mattice.
U.S. Attorney Russ Dedrick said the distribution of such controlled substances is causing great harm in east Tennessee.
The investigation involved federal and state agents and local law enforcement.
