KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville man was arrested after calling 9-1-1 for help early Wednesday morning when he got trapped in an air vent while allegedly trying to break into the Knoxville Museum of Art. According to the warrant, the suspect told police he was a "Special Agent with the U.S. Illuminati."
Police say they found Richard Anthony Smith, 25, trapped in an air conditioner vent at the museum. When they pulled him from the air shaft, he "stated that he is a special agent with the U.S. Illuminati, badge number 0931," according to the arrest warrant.
The warrant says, "The defendant (Smith) stated that he was ordered to defuse and confiscate a Soviet made MERV SS-22AN launch vehicle with 14.5 kilograms of enriched uranium and a plutonium trigger capable of delivering a 40 kilogram yield."
According to Smith, the device was in a blue plastic cow sculpture stored in the museum's basement, the release says.
According to Smith's criminal record, he pleaded guilty in 2007 to criminal trespassing and was sentenced to jail time and ordered to pay restitution to Baptist Eye Surgeons and show proof of continued mental health treatment.
Smith is also facing theft, criminal impersonation, and evading arrest charges from February 2008, according to court documents.
He is now charged with burglary in the KMA incident.
