LEBANON, Tenn. (AP) -- A Lebanon woman has been released from the Tennessee Women's Prison after serving 3 1/2 years for neglect and attempted aggravated child abuse.
Christine Osborne was convicted after authorities found out she and her husband, James C. Osborne III, had been chaining her 15-year-old mentally and physically handicapped stepson, Josh, to their bed. James Osborne is still serving the remainder of his seven-year sentence.
Josh weighed only 49 pounds when authorities intervened in 2004. He has since been placed with a family member.
In May, a bill named for Josh was passed into state law, adding starvation and dehydration to the definition of child abuse.
Christine Osborne, who was released from prison last week, was originally sentenced to 6 years in prison, but it was reduced on appeal to 3 1/2.
