CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A Chattanooga couple is living love in the fast lane.
Donnie Keele proposed to his girlfriend of two years on Interstate 75 Tuesday.
Keele called pretended his car broke down on the interstate and insisted Rachel Hopkins pick him up.
He had about 25 friends and family members meet him on a newly constructed overpass to hold a 25-foot banner asking her to marry him.
She said "yes."
During the last two weeks Keele had concocted a story that his Ford Contour was having problems although the car ran fine. Friends told The Chattanooga Times Free Press the story was his only hope to surprise the bride-to-be.
Hopkins says Keele was a "a jerk on the phone" but quickly forgave him after the proposal.
