PINPOINT 8 WEATHER CENTER -- A wind advisory and urban small stream flood advisory are in effect for most of East Tennessee until Saturday night.
*WIND ADVISORY*
A low pressure system moving East is bringing strong gusty winds this evening. The strong winds will affect the higher elevations, mainly above 2,500 feet.
A wind advisory is in effect for Cherokee, Clay, Scott TN, Campbell, Claiborne, Johnson, Morgan, Anderson, Cocke Smoky Mountains, Southeast Greene, Unicoi, Southeast Carter, Blount Smoky Mountains, Sevier Smoky Mountains, and Southeast Monroe Counties.
The wind advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday, during which the above named locations will see sustained winds between 20 and 30 miles per hour and wind gusts will be 40 to 50 miles per hour.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, so be care careful. Watch out for tree branches and other objects that may blow into the road.
*URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY*
The other issue is the rain that has now caused an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory in effect until 9:15 p.m. Saturday.
This is for Anderson, Campbell, Claiborne, Grainer, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Western Sullivan, and Union Counties.
The Pinpoint 8 Doppler Radar is showing numerous showers moving Northeast around 40 miles per hour.
The ground remains very wet from light rainfall from earlier today as well as from heavy rains over the past week.
Runoff from these additional moderate to briefly heavy showers Saturday may cause minor flooding of creeks, streams, low-lying farmland, and roads adjacent to streams.
Other low-lying places that flood easily could become dangerous.
If you come to a flooded or closed road, remember, turn around, don't drown!
