SEVIERVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- A woman is dead, her husband is in the intensive care unit at UT Medical Center after what Sevier County Sheriff's deputies believe is a case of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Saturday night, Sevier County deputies were called to a home under construction on Little Valley Road.
The builder called deputies after the builder saw a car in the home's driveway and went to investigate.
Deputies say Leann McCroskey, 40, and Devon McCroskey, 38, both of Maryville were inside a room of the home.
Deputies say a gas generator and a kerosene space heater were running in the room. A preliminary investigation indicates carbon monoxide poisoning may have led to Leann McCroskey's death and Devon McCroskey's illness.
Devon McCroskey is listed in serious but stable condition at UT Medical Center.
Police believe the two, who had expressed interest in buying the home, also consumer alcohol while inside the home.
