KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An East Tennessee man is charged with murder after telling police he killed a woman in Monroe County, and then leading officers to her body in McMinn County, according to a Monroe County Sheriff's Department release.
Kenneth Erick Waldrop, 20, 262 County Road 498, Etowah, is facing first degree murder charges in the death of Renee Roissier Miller, of Monroe County.
Police were contacted Wednesday evening, March 4, by Miller's husband when he "had been unable to contact her for a period of time and was concerned for her welfare," according to the release.
Deputies say detectives learned that Miller had last been seen with Waldrop that same afternoon, and they were able to meet with him for questioning.
"During this initial conversation certain facts came to light regarding the wellbeing of the missing woman," the MCSD release states. "These facts led to Kenneth Erick Waldrop taking Monroe County Deputies, along with a TBI agent and McMinn County Deputies to a secluded location within McMinn County where the missing woman was found deceased in her vehicle."
Deputies say a gun believed to have been used during the murder was recovered in Monroe County.
