Docking for dollars
Head Basketball Coach Bruce Pearl put down the basketball Wednesday and took a group of kids on his boat to raise money and bring awareness to the parks and greenways here in East Tennessee. Sea Ray also helped with the fundraiser by showing off their new technology and proving that it's so easy a kid can do it!

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Boating is a pretty popular hobby here in East Tennessee. In fact, Bruce Pearl says on the water is where he'd like to spend most of his Saturdays. "Our lakes and our mountains and our rivers and this part of the country is unlike any place else."

He's such a fan, he decided to share his love of the lake to raise awareness for the Legacy Parks Foundation.

"We're sending a message, that this is like an amazing place to live, get outside, enjoy the outdoors and get these kids to get outside," says Pearl.

The Legacy Parks Foundation raises money for parks and green space throughout the county. They've teamed up with Pearl and about 30 children to dock boats and raise money at Volunteer Landing.

"We're very actively trying to raise money to buy property on south waterfront so every dollar we raise helps us to buy that property," says Carol Evans with the Legacy Parks Foundation.

11-year-old Noah White has never been on a boat before - but he's getting ready to dock one. "They told us it's going to be really easy like playing a video game."

So he says if that's true, he says he'll do just fine. "I've beaten over half of my video games I have."

Along with some friends, Noah boarded the boat and jumped in the Captain's seat. And he did just fine....

"It was awesome, it was really cool, it was easy, it was just like a video game, you just turn one knob and it goes each direction you want it to," says Noah.

Along with feeling good about driving a boat, Noah raised money for the Legacy Parks Foundation. For every child that docks the boat successfully, Sea Ray is donating 100 dollars to the non-profit organization.

"We're raising money for this place and it's awesome," says Noah.
