CLINTON, Tenn. (SUBMITTED) -- Clinton Middle School will postpone the pre-game tailgate party and the crowning of its homecoming queen, originally set for Thursday, until next week, and its homecoming game has been canceled.
Lenoir City Middle School is unable to participate in a game this week because North Middle School, which also field players with the Lenoir City team, is closed through the end of the week because of illness.
“We will have the tailgate party Thursday, Sept. 24, before the game with LaFollette,” said bookkeeper Charlotte Wilshire, who is helping coordinate the events.
Wilshire said the homecoming dance will still take place this Friday afternoon, Sept. 18, from 3:30 until 5:30.
Wilshire the Sept. 24 tailgate party on the school’s front lawn will be held from 5 until 6:30 p.m. Grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, chips, and a drink will be available for $5.
The school’s homecoming queen will be crowned at half-time of the game, which is the last regular-season home game of the season, and a celebration of the team’s eighth-grade players also will be part of the festivities.
The activities are open to students, families, and the general public.
CMS is one of four middle schools in the Anderson County school system, which also includes nine elementary schools, two high schools, a career and technical center, a K-12 alternative school, and preschool/Head Start and adult education programs.
