NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT/AP) -- More than a third of Tennessee 95 counties don't have their own Web site, according to a survey by a nonprofit conservative group.

The Sam Adams Alliance recently reviewed county Web sites in 36 states, assessing whether they offered information about budgets, upcoming meetings, elected and administrative officials, audits, zoning, contracts, lobbying, public records and taxes.

The alliance found that of the 36 counties without websites, Campbell County, Claiborne County, Fentress County, Greene County and Morgan County were the only ones in the WVLT’s viewing area that did not have one.

According to the review, county sites in Tennessee were mostly likely to post information about elected and administrative officials.

No counties in the state received a top grade for their websites. Five counties did tie with the highest grade in the state, with Bradley County, Davidson County, Hamilton County, Montgomery County and Williams County each receiving a “B+” for having the most information available online.
