CLINTON, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An East Tennessee high school honored veterans with tunes of tribute Monday night.

It was a special concert that hasn't happened at Clinton High School in a least twenty years.

The school's three choirs joined together for a celebration concert in honor of Veteran's Day later this week.

Choral director Paula Ingle calls Veteran's Day concerts a tradition in elementary schools, but she says this concert was years overdue.

"I have always wanted to do this, but especially now," Ingle said."My students are incredibly excited, as I am, to be dong something for the first time in many, many years."

The concert's patriotic songs were enough to bring 88-year-old, World War II pilot Keith Medlin to his feet and to tears.

"The tears are for just that they would come out--do their part," Medlin said.

Medlin stood alongside moere than 30 veterans in the CHS Little Theater as each branch of the military was celebrated in song.

"To me, I feel like I"m going to pretty much honor the whole country by doing this," Senior soprano Ashley Coggins aid.

Medlin's not just the only World War II veteran in the crowd. He's also the Ingle's father.

"I am biased, but I thought it was very appropriate, and very well done," Medlin said.

The concert honored Anderson County's some seven-thousand veterans and others, but they also became songs of support for some of East Tennessee's youngest soldiers.

CHS senior Christopher Miller just finished basic training in the army just this summer.

"Everyone is worried about what they'll eventually have to do, but with the support of everybody here, I feel like I have enough support to do what I have to do, and be successful," Pvt. Miller said.

Melodies Medlin called the perfect "thank you." He's also musician, making his own guitars and other instruments.

"Keep singing. It's something they can do the rest of their lives. I still do it a little," Medlin said.

And if the choir can put a chair on stage, Medlin says he'll join them next time.

Possessing an obvious bias, I was none-the-less moved and proud to be living in this community and to call Mrs. Ingle a colleague. What a wonderful job on the parts of all concerned. I would love to see this happen IN SCHOOL so the students are more aware of the sacrifices that are made over time and will be made in the future on their behalf.
