Overqualified workers flooding seasonal job market
Getting a job, any job right now, is not easy for many. And when you throw in the amount of exceptional candidates who are willing to do just about anything to pay the bills, it might have you saying "Bah Humbug" this holiday season.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The documentary is called. "The Long March," airing tonight on East Tennessee Public Television. The producer is Jane Barr.
"I have a double major in political science and African American studies from UT."
But right now, Jane has a job at "Planet Exchange."
"I have not found a job in my field since I graduated from college. I've applied to plenty of jobs that I thought I was qualified," Barr told WVLT.
And in this case, overqualified, and hiring Jane meant rolling the dice that's she'd work out in retail.
"I was hesitant because she came in with a resume and I did feel she was overqualified, but on the other hand I feel I was lucky to get her," said Planet Exchange owner Beth Boline.
And according to her boss, Jane is far exceeding expectations. Good for Planet Exchange, but perhaps not so good for those competing against her for a seasonal or temporary job.
"It's very frustrating because all the people with college degrees are more likely to get the job, which is very hard," said unemployed worker Jessica Moon.
And at Planet Exchange, they admit there's an upside to hiring overqualified workers.
"That's where I think the payoff is for employers is if we take a chance and hire these people who can't find a job anywhere we can train them much quicker. For a short period of time I have an excellent employee that's very trainable and very competent."
Barr said "I was desperate when I walked in here for a job. I needed one so badly so when she showed enthusiasm about it I was really excited about it."
