Washington (AP) - The US Supreme Court has denied a request for a stay of execution for Phillip Workman.
Workman is scheduled to be executed at 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
Attorneys for condemned Tennessee inmate Philip Workman today filed a motion requesting a full court hearing of Workman's appeal.
The state continues implementing its plan to execute workman at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday at Riverbend Prison in Nashville.
A temporary restraining order granted over the state's method of lethal injection was dissolved Monday, allowing the plans to proceed.
The motion today asks that all of the judges on the US 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati hear the appeal.
Workman's execution has been delayed on five prior occasions, twice by stays granted by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in 2000 and 2001, once by a stay granted by the Tennessee Supreme Court in 2001, once by executive reprieve in 2003 and once by the Federal District Court in 2004.
Workman was convicted of the 1981 shooting death of a Memphis police officer.
