Knoxville (WVLT) - A lawsuit filed by a group of Blount County students over the right to wear a confederate flag will not be heard by a federal judge.

Defense attorney Van Irion tells WVLT Volunteer TV’s Blount Count Bureau Chief Stephen McLamb the lawsuit was thrown out by the judge Thursday afternoon.

Last year, a group of students from William Blount High School sued the school district after they were told they could not wear confederate symbols on their clothes.

Irion says he plans to immediately file an appeal with the US 6th Circuit Court in Cincinnati.

The issue was supposed to go to trial on June 5th in federal court.

It seems Federal Judges are too busy prosecuting Border Patrol Agents and Sheriff's Deputies to hear the truth on anything past or present.

Tinkerv.DesMoinse was a case in the late 60's where 2 students wore black armbands to protest vietnam.the supreme court ruled they had the right to do so.this case is similiar.this is not the only place this has happened in my school a few years back a kid were a confderate flag t shirt to school and was asked to go home and remove not wanting to cause trouble he did.the person that made the complaint had a malcom x shirt which i find offensive because he was a racist people make out to a hero.Long live the south!!!vote conservitive.make a liberals day:recite a piece of history.

there is nothing hateful about the confederate flag. it is a part of our southern heritage. it is unfortunate that so many uneducated people, including high school teachers here in knoxville are misinformed about the history.

Where does the right to free speech and expression begin or end? The flag they propose to wear is no more offensive than the nazi swastika, yet there is no body allowed to rule it illegal at schools. In fact the confederate flag has more to do with states rights and that particular tradition than slavery. The north was still slaving a year after that conflict, so it couldn't have been about slavery.

During the Vietnam War, the Supreme Court of the US ruled students could wear the American Flag sewed to seat of their pants to protest the war. Student have the 'Right' to wear Confederate flags and symbols WITHOUT anyones approval!!

OBVIOUSLY THIS (FEDERAL) JUDGE NEEDS A HISTORY LESSON ON THE ORIGIAN OF THE CONFEDERATE BATTLE FLAG. NOT UNTIL THE LAST 100 YEARS HAS THIS FLAG BEEN DISGRACED BY HATE GROUPS SUCH AS THE KKK, ARIAN NATION, AND SKIN HEADS. THIS FLAG DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM. IT BELONGS TO THE SOUHERN PEOPLE WHO HAD ANCESTORS DIE FOR THE CAUSE OF A FREE SOUTHERN REPUBLIC. I DEFY ANYONE TO PROVE TO ME THAT ANYTHING WRITTEN IN AMERICAN HISTORY, PROVES THAT THIS FLAG WAS DESIGNED TO BE USED BY "HATE GROUPS." YOU CANNOT AND WILL NOT FIND ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH THE CONFEDERATE GOVERNMENT THAT EXPOUSES HATE AS AN ISSUE INVOLVING THIS FLAG.

I would like to know the Constitutional reason (or at least the supposed reason the judge refered to) for denying United States citizens their rights to due process. Why was it not printed in this article? Was the reason even given? Was the question even asked of this FEDERAL judge?? And who is this judge? Considering the intermixing of politics, lies and personal bias Ned Pillersdorf (a high school coach and LAWYER who just happens to also be married to a JUDGE)is using to stoke hatred at Allen Central, where the school is trying to KEEP their Southern pride,I would seriously investigate this FEDERAL judges connections. Who does he play golf with? I guarentee y'all if the lawsuit had been brought forth by anti flag nazi's wanting to ban OUR identity, OUR history and OUR culture he would have heard it.
