KNOXIVLLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Prosecutors have nearly finished presenting their case against accused killer George Thomas. He's the third defendant to stand trial for the the carjacking, kidnapping rape and murder of Channon Christian, 21, and Christopher Newsom, 23.

Jurors heard Thomas' police interrogation Friday, but it's what Thomas said after the tapes stopped rolling that, prosecutors say, really helps prove that Thomas is criminally responsible for these crimes.

Prosecutors have called it George Thomas' motive, an alleged off-mic statement prosecutors said showed the accused killer's attitude toward Christian and Newsom.

"I said don't you wished you'd have called someone?" Detective Nevil Norman testified. "He turned around and looked at me and said, 'F*** that white girl. She didn't mean anything to me. You cops come into our neighborhoods and kills us, so why should I get involved in something that doesn't matter to me.' "

However, that's not exactly what Detective Norman previously reported he heard Thomas say.

"Check your notes," Prosecutor Leland Price said. "You said it doesn't matter to me?"

"(Thomas says)'It's none of my business,' (not that it doesn't matter), Norman says, correcting himself.

Norman said the statement came after Thomas' taped interrogation ended, but he he didn't write it down until 17 months later

"I just didn't do it," Norman says, as an explanation.

Defense attorney Thomas Dillard fought against the statement even being used in court.

"Was anyone in the room besides you and Mr. Thomas?" Dillard asked.

"Just he and I," Norman said.

Dillard drilled on Norman's slip-up on the stand, questioning the investigator's credibility.

"Sitting here this morning, during direct examination, you didn't quote it correctly did you?" Dillard pointed out.

"No sir."

But Norman testified that he still's confident that what he heard and later wrote was correct.

Earlier in the day Friday, the defense actually asked for a mistrial, after a federal agent implied that Thomas might have a prior criminal record in Kentucky, where he was arrested.

The judge said no real damage had been done, and the agent clarified his statement for the jury, saying Thomas had no record.

The prosecution is expected to rest it's case Saturday.

2:30pm--Medical Exmainer has taken the stand to describe the brutal rapes and murders Christian and Newsom suffered. Earlier this afternoon, prosecutors tried to show Thomas' allegiance with already convicted killer Letalvis Cobbins. A Knox County Sheriiffs deputy testified Thomas signed jail house letters to Cobbins "BWL"--brothers with love and "united together."

1:30pm--Defense criticized KPD investigator for not reporting Thomas' alleged off-tape racially charged statement earlier. Defense pointed out it wasn't written down for 17 months, and the investigator misquoted the statement this morning in court.

1:00pm--Jurors have heard Thomas' recorded statement. In the statement, Thomas says he knew a carjacking would happen, but didn't know anyone would be kidnapped. He admitted to seeing Christian and Newsom at the Chipman street house. Thomas said Eric Boyd left with Newsom, and Christian was taken to Davidson's bedroom. He said Boyd came back without Newsom 20 -30 minutes later.Thomas said he left along with Cobbins and Coleman, but returned on Sunday and didn't know what happened to Channon.

11:00am--Defense cross-examination focuses on Thomas arrest. Defense Attorney Thomas Dillard gets Waggoner to say Thomas didn't resist arrest. Waggoner says officers had to shout at Thomas several times to come out of the house, but he didn't put up a fight. Dillard also shows Thomas didn't cause problems at the police station after his arrest.

10:30am---Waggoner clarifies his statement, saying Lebanon Kentucky is a small town of 5,000-6,000 people, where "everyone knows everyone." Waggoner said law enforcement knew Stacy Lawson, and knew Thomas was her boyfriend. Waggoner said Thomas had no criminal record in Kentucky.

10:00am--Thomas' attorneys asked for a mistrial after ATF Agent Bernard Waggoner mentioned Thomas was known to Kentucky law enforcement . Dillard worried about the jury being impacted by the statements, when Thomas had no criminal record in Kentucky. Judge said no real damage been done, but need to clear that up with the jury when they return from a break.

9:55am--Hays said Thomas and others seemed normal at first, but later seemed "edgy" upon their arrival at her home. She also said she saw Thomas with "small bullets," but Thomas put them away when Hays commented on them. Hays also identified the gun police found in her home after Vanessa Coleman had returned to her house. "Them bullets were so small they fit that," Hays testified. Authorities have linked that gun to Letalvis Cobbins, and as a weapon that might have been used to kill Chris Newsom.

9:35am--Natosha Hays takes the stand. Thomas, Cobbins, and Coleman were arrested at her Kentucky home. It's where Long drove them.

9:15am---Day four begins. Prosecutors plan to play Thomas' statement to police today. But Jody Long is first on the stand. She gave Thomas a ride back to Kentucky along with Vanessa Coleman and Letalvis Cobbins. "They seemed normal," Long testified.
