KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The social internet social networking website Facebook has taken the world by storm, indulging hundreds of thousands of subscribers here in Tennessee.
As with every new web development, security problems arise and are now being addressed. The precautions will result in changes impacting how Facebook users and others will be able to navigate the site.
You may not be ready for Facebook change, but Facebook says they're ready to change your account.
With 350 million Facebook members from across the globe signed on to network, Facebook says their privacy changes are being implemented for you and your safety.
So, what's changing? Facebook operators are removing regional networks and introducing three basic privacy settings- friends, friends of friends and everyone- Facebook says these options are simpler and apply to everyone.
Another change is information available to you and the public- you can still hide your Facebook search results, but your name, profile picture, networks, current city and gender, friend list and pages will be visible to anyone visiting your profile.
And one more- you can now select a privacy setting for every post you make.
So who cares? Facebook's operators say ultimately you should because it is your safety and that of your family serving as the force behind these actions.
