KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A man died from his injuries following a Sunday evening car accident in West Knoxville.
Knoxville Police said Narishimarao Gazula, 67 was in the rear driver’s-side seat of his daughters Honda Civic when she was involved in a two vehicle crash driving through the intersection of West Town Way at Montvue Road. According to the report, the Honda was headed west toward the ramp to I-40 when it was t-boned by a Ford Escape heading east onto West Town Way.
The collision caused the Honda to spin out of control into a traffic light. All three people inside the Honda were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where Gazula later died while undergoing treatment. The driver and other passenger received non-life threatening injuries.
A blood sample was taken for each driver, which is routine in fatal traffic accidents. The investigation is considered ongoing and once the investigation has been completed, it will be handed over to the Knox County District Attorney’s office for review.
