KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A popular online shopping website has an East Tennessee town as one of the most romantic places in the nation.
Amazon.com announced its Top 20 Most Romantic Cities in America on Monday, placing Knoxville at number 16.
According to the Internet giant, the rankings are based on sales data complied between January 1st and the week before Valentine’s Day. The study comes up with rankings based on the sale of romance novels, sex and relationship books, romantic comedy DVDs, Barry White CDs and sexual wellness products. The sales figures are then checked against the population of every city with a population of more than 100,000 residents.
Knoxville was the only city in Tennessee that finished in the top 20.
The study indicates the most romantic city in the nation is Alexandria, Virginia. The affluent suburb of Washington D.C. has a population of more than 120,000.
