MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Police have identified a truck driver who was killed when a steel coil dropped on him at a Murfreesboro steel facility.
The Daily News Journal reported that the victim was Victor Ray "Chip" Chipman, a 49-year-old Roane Transport truck driver from Kingston.
A police report states that on Wednesday, a crane operator was trying to set the 5,000-pound steel coil on Chipman's commercial truck when it fell and crushed him.
The Murfreesboro police department and the state's Division of Occupational Safety and Health are still investigating.
