More than a dozen kids taken to the hospital for drinking

JAMESTOWN, Tenn. (WVLT) -- More than a dozen kids ages 11-17 had to be taken to the hospital Friday night after they had been drinking at a house by themselves.

Fentress County Sheriff Tony Choate says deputies went a house north of Jamestown around 7:20 p.m. They found no adults around, but 14 people underage.

Deputies decided to take all 14 juveniles to the hospital for precautionary measures. Sheriff Choate says some of them had been heavily drinking, but no one overdosed.

Medical staff checked them out while deputies started their investigation into what happened. No word yet on whether drugs were used.

The kids were released to their parents late Friday night.
