Maryville College encourages support for soldiers

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Maryville College encourages the community to "Adopt-a-Solider" by writing letters to our soldiers still at war.

It's a campaign that was started by two students; Melissa Kiewiet and Katie Grace. It's an event to bring awareness to their new student run group on campus called Maryville College for our Military & Their Families (MC4MF).

They are asking the community to come out and write a simple letter for the soldiers fighting overseas.

You can stop by Maryville College in the Bartlett Hall room 102/103 on Thursday November 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or you could stop by the campus at Fayerweather Hall room 323 on Friday November 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If you can't make it to write a letter then you could always donate items for care packages.

Items needed include:
-Hygiene Products (no aerosol cans)
-Lotion
-Flea Collars (might sound odd but it keeps the sand fleas away)
-Hard candies
-International Phone Cards
-Beef Jerky
-Sunscreen
-Paperback Books
-Coffee
