CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Monroe Co. woman was arrested for the murder of Monroe Co. Election Commission Chairman Jim Miller in the summer of 2010, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations announced Wednesday.
Jessica Kennedy Powers, 27, of Sweetwater, was indicted by the Monroe Co. Grand Jury on one count of felony murder, aggravated robbery, arson of personal property, and abuse of a corpse.
Kennedy Powers was served with the indictment in the Meigs Co. Jail where she was being held on unrelated charges. Officials say she was transferred to the Monroe Co. Jail where her bond was set at $500,000.
According to the TBI, Miller's body was found on Sands Road in July. Authorities say he was shot to death before his body was set on fire in his vehicle.
