KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) --Whitley County Deputies say 26-year-old James Privett tried to kill his wife with a meat cleaver.
They say he attacked his wife, Erica Privett, around 6:00pm Monday on Kentucky Highway 1804 south of Williamsburg. The wife reportedly ran to a neighbor's house where Privett was arrested.
The Whitley County Sheriff's Office is charging Privett with attempted murder and second degree burglary.
His wife was flown to UT Medical Center where she is in stable condition.
