26 year-old Knoxville man shot early Tuesday morning, KPD searching for suspect

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Police Dept. has identified the victim of an early morning shooting in north Knoxville on Tuesday. Twenty-six year-old Joshua Monholland was taken to UT Medical Center where he is expected to survive.

According to their preliminary investigation, the suspects started beating Monholland while demanding to know "where the money was at." After getting the wallet, they reportedly shot the victim in the thigh before taking off.

The suspects, who police say apparently knew the victim, were reported to be in their 20's and wearing black clothes and black ski masks. Officers aren't sure if they left on foot or in a car.

Officers discovered Monholland in a home on Atlantic Ave. around 5:30 a.m. They found him after originally responding to a prowler call in the area, which turned out to be a witness looking for someone to call 911.
