KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A man injured in a shooting, originally thought to be a victim, is now charged with Assault.
The Knoxville Police Department said the fight started over a vehicle and then lead to gunfire on Highland Drive in Fountain City Tuesday evening.
Police arrested one man at the scene, and another man was rushed to the hospital with several gunshot wounds.
Wednesday KPD said the investigation indicates the man who was shot, was the primary aggressor in an aggravated assault. Johnny Flynn, 31, of Sevierville, now faces one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of having a Prohibited Weapon.
They said Flynn was about to attack Adam Martin, 34, with brass knuckles and a knife. That's when the Knoxville resident fired the gun. Martin was not charged in the assault.
Flynn status at UT Medical Center is not available at this time. The Knoxville Police Department said additional charges could be placed on Flynn as the investigation continues.
