Man sentenced for counterfeit cashier's checks

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee - A man convicted of passing counterfeit cashier's checks at a three Food City locations was sentenced Wednesday.

Wayne Darnell Bass, 47, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was
sentenced to 37 months in federal prison.

Bass was also ordered to pay restitution to his victims in the amount of $142,965.09.

The sentence was the result of a guilty plea by Bass on June 22, 2011, to an information charging him with three counts of passing counterfeit cashier’s checks at a Food City location in
Knoxville, the Airport Hilton in Alcoa, and at the Bass Pro Shop in Kodak, Tennessee.
