Norwood neighborhood opposes zoning change

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.(WVLT)--The Norwood Homeowners Association welcomed city council members in their discussion over developer Tim Graham's proposal to rezone 18 acres.

Graham owns the Knoxville Expo Center on the corner of Merchants Drive and Clinton Highway.

One of the concerns is traffic.

Clark Hamilton a member of the neighborhood association told Local 8 News, "We're concerned about where traffic enters McClain Road.
Earlier in 1998, Merchants Road was carrying around 2,000 cars a day what Clinton Highway was, that's a tremendous amount of traffic on a two lane road".

City Council approved the zoning request on their first reading last Tuesday.

The issue comes back for a final vote, February 21st.T
