KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- People will rally outside the City County Building Tuesday morning as the man accused of dragging the Little Brown Dog behind his truck heads to court.
Jimmy Lovell was charged with animal cruelty after reportedly dragging the terrier mix behind his truck for several miles in November 2009. His actions shook the Knoxville community, as well as people across the state and nation.
Jim Ham is one of the people who will attend the rally outside the courthouse Tuesday at 9 a.m. He's a retired Gatlinburg Police officer.
"What really impressed me was that everyone stepped up and did the right thing," Ham said. "It's a story that touched everyone's hearts."
This case hits especially close to home for Ham because someone poisoned and killed his dog a few years ago.
Little Brown dog is fully recovered, and now lives with one of the surgeons who helped save her.
