KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Over 14,000 people have signed up for "Do your part with the cart", a free curb side recycling program; but it's a few thousand off from a goal of 20,000 residents.
To sign up call 3-1-1 or

However, the city has partnered with Recycle Bank which will save you some green while you're being "green". This online site is available for anyone who has signed up with the Knoxville Recycling Program and basically the more you recycle; the more rewards you can get.
Cheryl Ball with the Knoxville Recycling Program tells us "Once Waste Management picks up the recyclables from your house, they are then weighed and that weight turns into points."
Points that you can redeem for coupons and discounts at stores around the nation including local businesses.
One local business is Julie Apple, a place to find the perfect bag just for you.
Owner Julianne Applegate tells us "I design and sell the bags here in Knoxville but they are different from any other bag you've ever had because they are made from recycled bottles."
As a member of Recycle Bank, you can get a discount on Julie Apple bags using those points you've collected.
But that's not the only thing you can get with points from Recycle Bank.
"There's discounts for Home Depot, Macy's and even your local grocery store. There's something for everyone including coupons and deals that only members of Recycle Bank get." says Cheryl
It's a free opportunity that rewards you for simply recycling. If you're interested; there's still time to sign up.
