Two charged with trying to fix Tellico Plains mayoral elections

TELLICO PLAINS, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Two men are charged with trying to buy votes during the 2011 Tellico Plains Mayoral Race, according to a TBI spokesperson.

Tellico Plains resident Chuck Hunt is facing eights counts of bribery of a voter and eight counts of conspiracy to bribe a voter; while Norman Nichols who lives in Madisonville faces six counts of bribery of a voter and six counts of conspiracy to bribe a voter.

The pair had been under investigation by the TBI since September at the request of the District Attorney General.

Both were booked into the Monroe County Jail on $1,000 bond each.
