May 27, 2009 (Knoxville, TN, C.A.K.) – Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) is pleased to introduce Mr. Ried Estus as the school’s new High School Girls Soccer coach. Coach Estus, who will also fill the position of Assistant Principal at CAK’s High School, brings 25 years of experience in coaching and athletic administration at both the college and high school levels.
Estus has served as the Director of Athletics at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC since 1994. There he oversaw an 18-sport NCAA II program, producing 39 conference tournament champions. From 1987-2000, Estus also coached Lees-McRae’s women’s soccer team, establishing the program in just four months and transitioning the team from NJCAA to NAIA, and on to NCAA II competition. While coaching at Lees-McRae’s, the women’s soccer team brought in a host of championships, including six conference tournament championships.
Well-respected in the college athletics community, Coach Estus spent nine years on various regional ranking committees of the NJCAA, NAIA, and NCAA. He produced 11 All-American athletes and 13 All-South athletes. Estus’ record in women’s soccer at Lees-McRea (also his head coaching career record) was an astonishing 199-82-8, a win percentage of over 72%.
Estus has also coached women’s tennis and men’s soccer at the collegiate level. He will be joining the CAK coaching staff and school administration this summer.
