(Tennessee Athetlics) -- The University of Tennessee Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Vol Network, announced today final plans for the 2009 Big Orange Blast. The event, slated for Friday, Sept. 4th, will feature country music star Sara Evans with special guest TelluRide.
This year’s event will also feature the second annual SubWay “Greatest Fan” competition, the Pride of the Southland Marching Band, the UT Cheerleaders and will be hosted by WIVK’s Andy & Allison.
"I'm looking forward to performing at the University of Tennessee's Big Orange Blast Football Kickoff Concert on September 4th and celebrating the start of the football season. I love SEC football,” said Evans.
"If there's one thing we've learned from living in Tennessee, it's there is no bigger fan anywhere in the country than a Vol fan,” said Adam Craig, lead singer of TelluRide. “We can't wait to be a part of such an amazing group of football fans! Go Vols!"
This year’s event will be held at the World’s Fair Park beginning at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are now available online at www.UTBigOrangeBlast.com beginning at $10 each and will be available the day of the event at the World’s Fair Park. There are a limited number of VIP and Premium seats also on sale. The VIP ticket includes a meet and great with Sara Evans prior to her performance; both premium and VIP tickets included reserved chair back seating.
“It’s so exciting to see how the Big Orange Blast has grown over the past two years,” said Mike Hamilton, men’s athletics director. “I think it’s only appropriate to kick-off the 2009 football season with a fan appreciation event.”
Additionally, Sara Evans -- a Missouri native -- will perform "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch of Tuesday night’s 80th Major League Baseball All-Star Game which will be televised nationally by FOX Sports.
