COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) -- Rickey Henderson and Jim Rice have taken their place in the Baseball Hall of Fame at induction ceremonies today. Henderson says he's humbled and honored to be in the class of the greats of the game. Rice had to wait until his last year of eligibility but says he didn't mind. He equates the feeling of being notified he was in the Hall of Fame to that of hitting a walk off home run.
Henderson is baseball's all-time stolen base leader with 1,406 and he won the American League MVP award in 1990.
Rice played for the Boston Red Sox for his hole career. He had at least 20 home runs in 11 of his first 12 seasons and was the American League MVP in 1978.
The other inductee was veteran's committee selection Joe "Flash" Gordon, while player-turned-broadcaster Tony Kubek and writer Nick Peters were honored with awards.
