JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Steve Marino gets another shot at his first PGA Tour victory after running off three straight birdies at Liberty National for a 3-under 68 to share the lead with Paul Goydos at The Barclays.
Marino lost in a playoff at Colonial and was tied for the 36-hole lead with Tom Watson at the British Open. He will be in the final pairing with Goydos, whose last win came at the Sony Open two years ago.
On a course soft from rain and playing 355 yards shorter with tees moved forward, Goydos also had a 68. They were at 9-under 204, two shots ahead of 24-year-old rookie Webb Simpson (72) and Fredrik Jacobson (68).
Still in the hunt was Tiger Woods, who made enough birdie putts and two good par saves for a 67 that put him within five shots of the lead in the first playoff event for the FedEx Cup.
