Everyone wins as special player scores team's only TD
Two Missouri freshman football teams clashed Monday, Sept. 14 in Maryville, Mo., but before the game ended, the rivals had come together to make one player's special moment happen that night.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (WVLT/KansasCity.com) -- Two Missouri freshman football teams clashed Monday, Sept. 14 in Maryville, Mo., but before the game ended, the rivals had come together to make one player's special moment happen that night.
St. Joseph runningback Matt Ziesel, 15, has Down's Syndrome, but he was always eager to take the field, according to the Kansas City Star.
Ziesel's team was about to lose big -- they hadn't put a single point on the board -- when his coach called a timeout to ask Maryville's defensive coordinator to give up the shutout in order to let Matt run the ball in for the team's only touchdown of the night, the paper reports. Coach and players all agreed, and the play was on. Ziesel ran the ball 60 yards for the touchdown.
St. Joseph lost 46-6, but the team's coach, Dan McCamy told the Kansas City Star, "The end result, we lost the game, but when we went away, we were all kind of winners."
